WHAT FOODS SELL BEST IN FOOD TRUCKS?

Food trucks are commonplace nowadays and there is more variety available at these mobile eateries than ever before. Beyond burgers and hot dogs, you can get almost the same variety as you would in a restaurant. However, whether you are looking to set up your own or are interested in renting a food truck for an event, it’s worth noting that some food trucks are more popular than others

So, what are the foods that sell best in food trucks? We are going to highlight a number of these below.

BURGERS

It should come as no surprise that straight off the bat we are discussing one of the foods that many people would associate with food trucks burgers. Why are these so popular? They are easy to eat, affordable and delicious. From a production point of view, they are also simple and affordable to produce and can be endlessly customized to provide customers with a lot of choices without requiring a huge larder.

STONE BAKED PIZZAS

Have you ever been at a fair, festival or even just a local market and caught a whiff of fresh pizzas being cooked from a truck? There is something extremely comforting and even a little indulgent about ordering a slice of stone-baked pizza with your favorite toppings. Like burgers, because of the simple premise, pizzas are very easy to make, even from a mobile kitchen.

All you need is an oven, a good quality dough mixture and a lot of cheese and other toppings and long as you have the technique down pat, you will never be short of customers.

INDIAN FOOD

In the UK, we love Indian food. Although we are all used to ordering it online or over the phone from our favorite takeaway or having a nice sit-down meal in a restaurant or buffet-setting, Indian food also works well as food truck grub. Curries can be put into handy carriable containers and places that specialise in mouth-watering accompaniments like bhajis and pakora will always have a long line of people waiting, as they are easy to eat finger food.

FISH AND CHIPS

Another obvious choice, especially here in the UK, is having your local fish and chips shop on wheels. Fish and chips are excellent because they taste great and are easy to handle. It is also relatively cost-effective and simple to make a constant quantity of them. To add some variety, you can sell other fish and chip shop delicacies. All you need is a couple of friers in a truck and you’re good to go.

GRILLED CHEESE

Grilled cheese sandwiches are the ultimate in simple, but effective comfort food. All that gooey cheese between the crunchy, crispness of the toasted or grilled bread, also works well outdoors, especially on a cold day. Again, like all good food truck food, grilled cheese sarnies are easy to hold and eat, when on the move.

There are lots of other types of food that work well from food van catering, but if you are looking at the most popular, the options above are no-brainers.
